Satipharm have teamed up with Dr. John Teh, Medical Cannabis Director at PlantMed, for an investigative study into the effects of CBD on Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn's Disease and Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
To take part in the study you must be living in Australia. Find out how to apply here.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a common condition that impacts the digestive system. With IBS you may experience symptoms like cramping, bloating, gas, abdominal pain, diarrhoea and constipation.
IBS is a chronic condition that is usually managed over a lifetime and can have a big impact on your everyday life. Luckily, only a small number of people suffer from severe symptoms.
The exact cause of IBS is unknown. However, it has been linked to problems such as food passing through your gut too quickly or slowly, life stress and a family history of the condition.
What is Crohn’s Disease?
Crohn’s Disease is a type of long term Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) where parts of the digestive system become inflamed.
Crohn’s Disease causes inflammation of your digestive tract, which may lead to abdominal pain, severe diarrhoea, fatigue, weight loss and malnutrition. With treatment, many people with Crohn's disease are able to manage the condition.
What is Ulcerative Colitis?
Ulcerative Colitis (UC) is a type of long term Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) that causes inflammation and ulcers in the digestive tract and the gastrointestinal tract.
It may also cause irritation, inflammation, and ulcers in the lining of the large intestine. While it has no known cure, the right treatments can greatly help reduce the symptoms of the disease.
Accessing Medical Cannabis and CBD In Australia
Satipharm CBD 50mg Gelpell® capsules are available in Australia through the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) Special Access Scheme (Category B) or through the Authorised Prescriber Scheme. Patients wishing to access medicinal cannabis products should talk to their physician and make themselves familiar with the processes by reading the TGA advice at www.tga.gov.au.
Once a physician such as Dr. John Teh from PlantMed has the required approval, this prescription can then be sent to our distributor, Health House International, who will arrange delivery to a dispensing pharmacy.
